Memorandum of Understanding signed between Lao and Government of Nagaland September 2011 to help boost state economy by promoting Agarwood development activities in Nagaland state has been fulfilled with the inauguration of Agar and its Oil Distillation Factory, a joint venture of Nagaland Bio Resource Mission (NBRM) and Lao Agar Int'l Development Co.Ltd HSMM Group, at Merangmen under Mangkolemba Sub-division, Mokokchung district on 2nd November 2012.
With this valuable agar tree plantation in the state and its valuable aromatic oil extraction from the tree would add a new dimension in the state economy. Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio officially inaugurated the Factory amidst great enthusiasm among agar farmers in the foothills of Tzurangkong region.
In his inaugural address, Neiphiu Rio said the factory 'is first of its kind in the state' and he gave credit to Habib Mohammed Chowdhury, President & Chief Executive Officer, HSMM Group, Lao for transferring the technology to the state and enabling Nagaland state to kick start Agar activities scientifically in a massive way. Describing Agar as "King of aromatics and Liquid gold" Chief Minister said state government would make efforts to obtain license trade of agar and its produces in international market and its price will be protected.
Chief Minister said Nagaland government has signed several MUOs with renowned firms and governments over the years but many signatories backed out due to various reasons. He however said the MUO with Lao on Agar would give a fillip to state economy.
Expressing his gratitude to Habib Mohammed Chowdhury, Neiphiu said the installation of Agar and Essential oil distillation technology was like a Golden egg given to the people of the state.
Presiding over the inaugural function Agriculture Production Commissioner and Principal Secretary H.K Khulu termed the installation of the technology a big step. He said NBRM which was started in 2007 is also engaged in identifying medicinal and aromatic plants for taking cultivation commercially.
Demonstration of Agar fungus inoculation and power point presentation on Agar fungus isolation was made by Moatoshi, Addl. Director Land Resource Development and NBRM Director. President and CEO HSMM Group Lao, Habib Chowdhury in his speech said his vision to work with the people of North East had been fulfilled finally with the installation of the factory.
Chief Minister was accompanied by Agriculture Minister Dr. Chumben Murry, Forest Minister M.C Konyak, Parliamentary Secretary Er. Saku and Toshipokba MLA.
The inaugural function was also attended by DC Mokokchung, Murohu Chotso; DIG Mokokchung Range, W. Krome; S.P Mokokchung, Vikram Khalate; ADC Mangkolemba, Y. Denngan Avonoho Phom, head of offices from Mokokchung and Mangkolemba.
The mass social work held at the State capital today was successfully conducted. The social work was held from 6 a.m. onwards to 11 a.m. which witnessed active participation of all the government employees, wards/colonies, NGOs business establishments and the general public.
Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, W. Honje Konyak who inspected all the wards/colonies and assigned jurisdictions during the social work, expressed satisfaction over the work carried out in all areas. He also deeply appreciated all the government departments who actively participated in their assigned locations and made sure that the works were carried out smoothly. The DC also appreciated all the wards/colonies for cleaning their respective areas including all the business establishments.
The DC further thanked the Kohima Municipal Council for their efforts in successfully carrying out the mass social work in the State capital. The control room for the mass social work was set up at the KMC office.
A Clean Election Rally programe which was organized by the Ao Baptist Arogo Mongdang Youth Department (ABAMYD) was held at Imlong Place, Mokokchung on 3rd November 2012.
Exhorting the gathering, Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Murohu Chotso said that the corruption in our society can be solved only if people could do away with ism, love of money and intoxication. He mentioned that Nagas are suffering due to premature practice of democracy.
The Deputy Commissioner also urged the Ao community in particular saying that being the most advance tribe in the state, Aos should be the pioneer by leading the Nagas in upholding the good culture of peaceful practices and judicious participation during elections.
Executive Secy. ABAM, Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger while giving a challenge on Clean Election insisted upon all civil society and individuals to take the occasion seriously so that changes can be brought in our society in future.
Short speeches were delivered from Ao Kaketshir Mongdang (AKM) and Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) while Secy. ABAMYD Rev. Dr. Imti Lkr gave the key note address. Earlier Clean Election March was taken from Imkongmeren Sports Complex to Imlong Place where hundreds of citizens in the town participated.

Clean Election Rally was held at Jalukie, main town, organized by ZBCC Youth Department in collaboration with Clean Election Working Committee NBCC. The programme was chaired by Ndazeung and invocation was pronounced by D. Anui, Pastor Samzuiram Baptist Church.
Pastor Mongzeung Mpom, member Clean Election working Committee NBCC, in his short speech said that changing our date of birth, proxy voting, selling of vote etc. are sin and is destroying our society. 'If we want to see the changes in our society, we should stand for truth, there should not be money power, no alcohol power, no physical power' he said.
Rev. H.M. Gonmei, Executive Secy, RBA also gave a short speech. Special song was presented by Christian School Hostellers. Various schools, public, church leaders, NGOs, traders etc. participated in the clean election rally.
